Books that Make a Difference

Taylor Guitar, Organic Church, Search and Rescue

Hey, this is my book list. Books make you think. Thinking is good.

Organic Church by Neil Cole. Cole leads you through ideas that promote simple organic expressions of church. He is a practitioner not a theorist. It’s easy to embrace this Christian brother as he reflects Christ in his work.

Search and Rescue by Neil Cole. Here Cole presents an important concept Life Transformation Groups or LTG’s. Small groups of two or three in accountability to each other. Weekly meetings, lots of scripture reading, prayer for each other, their families, the lost friends they know, answering accountability questions honestly. This is intense and unheard of in most of Christianity.

The bible. Of course, this is book one on the list. It contains the thoughts of God and the purposes of God. It shares the good, the bad, and the ugly, as well as the successes and failures of God’s men and women through time, and the birth of the Church. It tells what Jesus did for us and tells us that he will baptize us with the Holy Spirit to lead, guide, comfort and assure us that we are God’s, and that we have a job to do in making disciples. Final words are important words, Jesus said, “Go and make disciples.” Who are we to argue?

The Irresistible Revolution: Living as an Ordinary Radical was my reading material to and from a Haitian Mission Trip in May of 2010.
